Meet the Evelys

Bob Evely is a businessman with a national company, specializing in sales, marketing and business development. He is a graduate of Oakland University (Rochester, Michigan) and also has a Master of Divinity Degree from Asbury Theological Seminary (Wilmore, Kentucky).

Bob was an ordained minister in the United Methodist and Free Methodist denominations. For three and a half years he served as pastor of the Canton and West Point United Methodist Churches in Salem, Indiana; and then for five years he served as pastor of the Open Door Free Methodist Church in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Both were bi-vocational positions, with Bob supporting his family through his full time employment.

In May, 2002 Bob resigned as pastor of Open Door Free Methodist Church because our theological beliefs, based on a study of God’s Word, were no longer consistent with the Free Methodist Church. (See Bob’s writings concerning “The Church” by selecting that title on the left side-bar.)

Upon leaving the “traditional church” we began meeting in our home on a weekly basis. This home church, and Bob’s writing and speaking ministry, are what we call “Grace Evangel Fellowship.”

We live in Wilmore, Kentucky. Originally from the Romeo, Michigan area, we have been married since 1975 and have five children: Cris (and wife Jen) of Lexington KY, Dusty (and wife Sharon) of Lexington KY, Chad of Wilmore KY, Kari of Wilmore KY, and Scott of Wilmore KY.

Jill homeschooled the children since 1990, concluding with Scott’s graduation in May 2007. She continues to represent Sonlight Curriculum, a literature based homeschool curriculum, as a consultant, curriculum advisor and as an internet forum moderator. If you are interested in homeschooling, or about the Sonlight curriculum, select “Homeschooling” on the left side-bar.

We love to spend time together and with our family, which is our most cherished treasure. We enjoy traveling, reading and taking walks. Bob is an avid reader and likes to work on “fix-up” projects around the house, and on our 30 acres near Harrodsburg KY. Jill loves to cook, bake, read and make dry-rock flower beds with the wonderful limestone rocks so prevalent in the Bluegrass area.

Our 30 acres is the most beautiful land God ever created, and we dream of one day building a home and living there. For now we love to spend time there … walking, picnicking, reading, relaxing, or working on projects. (Bob loves his old Ford 8N tractor … spending 50% of the time keeping it running and 50% of the time bush-hogging.)
